ReplyDeleteWe will be going to the 6 pm Christmas Eve Mass. That's the one we usually attend, along with most of my extended family. At some point in my life, I'd like to get to a midnight Mass somewhere. After that, we will do our little Secret Santa exchange amongst the siblings (which Jake is now a part of) & eat Christmas cookies.
Christmas morning is reserved just for our family, then we're hosting dad's side in the afternoon. We'll have about 30 extra people here. Tomorrow is cleaning day to prepare for that, since today is the last day of school for mom and the girls.
Hi Sam! Wow, that's a lot of people, but that's so beautiful! When I was growing up, we always went to Mass on Christmas Eve. Our dinner with my grandparents was always afterward, and I seem to remember that not being until 7 or 7:30 pm, so most likely our Mass was at 5 or 6 pm. Since I had small kids, I'd started dreading Christmas Eve Mass more and more, because of the lack of seating, and the length. When we moved to Christmas Day when Anne was a baby, I couldn't believe the difference in terms of ease! Both are good for different reasons. :) I'd love to attend a Midnight Mass too someday, but I'd be one of those advocating for a 10 pm Midnight Mass, just so that I had a prayer of being awake for it. :0
