An evening with a toddler

*I walk in the door after work*

"Hi Honey! Did you have a nice day with Daddy?"

"NO!"

We're off to a roaring start.

"She's been in a mood all afternoon." This is reported by Mike, my heroic husband.

"Do you want me to hold you, Honey?"

*Anne throws self on floor*

Oh sigh.

Thereby follows several temper tantrums and a refusal to eat dinner. Much sobbing commences.

In an effort to distract her, we take her outside. She quickly retrieves a small shovel and says she's going to dig for worms. Well ok, then.

"Find the worms!"

"Yes Honey, we can look for some worms."

"Kiss that worm!"

"I don't think you're going to want to kiss the worm, Honey. "

"Hug that worm!"

"We'll see, Darling. Oh look! Here's a worm, see?"

*kissing noises permeate the backyard*

Well, at least she settled down.
